Buy PS3 Slim – it’s out and looks amazing. Its features are black and very glossy making it eye appealing to any home theater system. Everyone seems impressed with its new look and style making it a great selling feature. And it`s also the extra features that have people impressed and saying that it is better than the original 2006 version.
The new PS3 slim is 36% lighter and takes up 33% less space that means that it is not as bulky and heavy as it was before. There is a stand that costs about 24 dollars that can go with it, but many argue that it should have just come with a stand in the price. The actual unit has fantastic stability which makes it more reliable as you put in and take out games. The connection is the same as the PS3 in the past, it has only two USB 2.0 ports and 802.11b/g with no draft.
The BD Rom drive can be moved around and won`t scratch games or movies which are great news for anyone who has ended up with scratched and ruined discs. The system only has 2 times the speed and they are lots of hassles when loading games as it seems to take a long time. The A/C cord has no ground pin and works the same as it did before, the cable still works with the PS2 and laptop. The power and eject buttons are now in a clicking form instead of the old sensitive touch buttons. A drawback for this unit is that you cannot install a third party platform which might be disappointing to some people.
The new PS3 slim has less noise when playing games or movies or just sitting idling. It`s nice and quiet giving it an advantage over its competition. The system also comes in a new lower energy efficient format, which means that the possible hours spent with your system turned on in a day will actually cost less…great news for hydro bills. The blu-ray player still plays movies in great color and detail, but it does take longer to load than its old system, making it a hassle to get movies and even games in and out quickly. The new slim can be formatted to work with the remote of a Brava L, however you cannot turn the system on using it, just off and once you do click on to the Sony store, you cannot use the menu, so there are a few imperfections with using it.
Everyone seems to love the new and improved PS3 Slim, they love the way it looks and are drawn to the new style and glossy shimmer. The fact that it does save energy has both environmentalists and parents running to pick them up. It`s quieter and lighter and takes up less room which make it a great addition to any home movie theatre system. It`s steady and durable, so fewer games will get scratched unless there left out of their cases outside of the system.
The only real drawback is that it seems to take longer to play Blu-ray movies. But most people don`t seem to mind too much, as the pros out way the cons for sure. Game players will not be disappointed with the new improved design and new gamers using it as their first system will be highly impressed.

Sony has put backwards compatibility for PlayStation 1 (PS one) games in the new PS3 Slim. It hasn’t been since the 60GB PS3 that there was the ability to play PlayStation 2 games on a PS3. Unfortunately it is not possible to buy a 60GB version anywhere as it was discontinued several years ago. Many people want the PS3 to play PlayStation two games, and you know what, that’s possible and will probably happen in the future on the system, let me explain.
The system already has the ability to play PlayStation two games if it wanted. Sony can easily allow users to play PS2 software in a software update to buy PS3 Slim. Simple isn’t it. The ability to play PS2 games on the PS3 was removed to keep the PlayStation 2 selling.
The reasons Sony took the ability to play PS2 games away in the first place was because the last generation console was still selling a little. Sony felt there would be no reason to keep a PS2 on the market with the PS3 having backwards compatibility for PlayStation 2games, therefore Sony removed the ability to emulate PS2 games from the PS3 to boost PlayStation 2 sales.
I really think that Sony will add the ability to play second generation software on the new console in the future, just once the old console stops selling, that is. I think this is something that we will be seeing in the future, once the PlayStation 2 has become defunct expect those older games to be playable on the system near you soon!

The new system packs all of the great features from the old PS3 while consuming 34 percent less power and taking up 32 percent less space then its predecessor. The original PS3 was a huge console so I am really pleased that Sony decided to make a slim version.
The internal design architecture of the new system, from the main semiconductors and power supply unit, to the cooling mechanism, has been completely redesigned, achieving a much slimmer and lighter body compared to the old model. Power consumption is also cut to two-thirds, helping to reduce fan noise which was a tedious problem with the old PS3.
The console has a new design with textured surface finish, giving an all new impression and a “casual look”. I personally really like the new design because the original PS3 was prone to scratches and unsightly marks so it is great this will no longer be the case with the PS3 Slim. It looks really sleek.
The console has increased storage size has from 80GB to 120GB, and with the extra capacity we will be able to store more games, music, photos, videos as well as various content and services available through PlayStation Network. There is now a 250GB version of the console giving 180GB of extra storage from the original system. Sony say that their PlayStation Network offers more than 15,000 pieces of digital content, ranging from game titles, trailers, and demos to more than 15,000 movies and TV shows via PlayStation Store.
And of course, the new PS3 packs all of the great features from the old PS3 while consuming 34 percent less power and taking up 32 percent less space then its predecessor. The hide drive finds itself in front of the system instead of the sides. To replace the hard drive all you have to do is remove two screws. The Slim weighs just 7lbs and it measures 11.42 x 2.56 x 11.42. The touch screen buttons have been replaced with real buttons. The original 60nm processor has been replaced with the 45nm version.
The PS3 Slim also has a Blu ray player, internal Wi-Fi and 2 USB ports. Even the fan noise fan has become quieter. The Blu Ray can be used for watching movies as well as playing games.

It was first US retailer K-Mart who first confirmed the presence of the new 120 GB PS3 Slim hours before Sony’s Gamescom conference. The US retailer also starts taking preorders for the game console to be launched in September, 2009. K-mart also started banner ads of the new console which would be cheaper and Slimmer than the previous model. The game blog Kotaku also sent scanned posters of the new PS3 Slim to all its members.
The Hong Kong office of Sony also held a launch party in Causeway Bay, which is also Hong Kong’s major shopping area. The event was held on 31st August starting from 6 pm. Then there was also a listing on GameStop’s website that the new model will be shipped on August, 25th. The game was officially launched on 1st September, 2009 though Sony had declined earlier that it would release it on 1st September, 2009. The 120 GB version was introduced first and then after a few months the 250 GB version was also introduced. Earlier, Pkaystation chief Kaz Hirai had suggested that the PS3 would be available in some regions before 1st September, but the news from Sony was confirmed that 1st September was the official US date.
The PS3 was officially released on 1st September, 2009 thus ending all speculation of the dates of the release of the latest game console. With this released Sony was on a roll as it had also announced the release of the 250 GB version.
